Manchester City will make a late decision on the fitness of midfielder David Silva ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea
The Spaniard is a severe doubt for the Wembley showpiece after suffering a hamstring injury late on in Monday’s Manchester derby victory over United at Old Trafford.
The former Valencia man was initially ruled out of the clash with Rafa Benitez’s side but City boss Roberto Mancini has revealed he may still be in contention.Speaking on the club’s website, Mancini said:
“We will decide, I think, on Sunday morning,” said the Italian. “We don’t know if it is possible and if there is a risk he will not play, but if there is not then maybe, could be.
“He is getting better. Yesterday he ran, so I think we have a chance.
“I don’t think he can play 100 per cent but it is important he is very close.”
Argentine striker Sergio Aguero could start after he came off the bench to score the winner against the Red Devils on Monday.
Full-backs Maicon and Micah Richards remain long-term casualties with knee injuries, though Richards hope to return before the end of the month.
