Gusto reached for the ball and, in his challenge, caught Willian with his studs above the ankle in what appeared to be an obvious sending off. However, to Silva's frustration, the defender was merely cautioned. The Blues would go on to win the game 1-0 and the Fulham boss can only be left wondering what might have been had the Frenchman been given his marching orders.

Speaking to , Silva said: "That has to be red card for Gusto. It is difficult to understand how things are not consistent at this level in the Premier League. Probably nine out of ten times that has been a red card. It was a dangerous tackle and put the player in trouble, it is a clear red card. VAR check, but this time they do not give."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The decision becomes yet another case study in the catalogue of dubious VAR calls this season. Had Gusto been sent off, with the game at 0-0, it may have completely changed the complexion of the derby. Even Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino admitted that his side were lucky to keep 11 players on the pitch. Silva's side sit comfortably in mid-table but will be frustrated to drop points at their struggling rivals.
